(Update Thursday, Feb. 18) John Muir Health learned late last week that they would have to cancel plans for an expanded vaccination clinic in Rossmoor because of vaccine issues that have been an issue statewide.

In 1996, however, the couple returned to the Garden State and took up residence in Rossmoor, a community in Monroe Township, near Jamesburg. Abrams, known for his love of music, travel, sailing, and golf, as well as his unfailing willingness to lend a helping hand to others, died at his New Jersey home on March 30, 2010. As you know from what I told you, I went to Maxwell Field as an aviation cadet, and we also didn't get too bad a pay as a cadet. You didn't have to go through basic training as an infantry man, that is, all nice accommodations in Maxwell Field. I think my pay grade at the time I was in Maxwell Field was like $75.00 a month, as a cadet.
John Muir Health (JMH) officials said that any resident who received a first dose at the Event Center earlier this month will still receive their second shot in Rossmoor. That second dose vaccination clinic will begin Feb. 22 and all residents who were previously vaccinated should already have their second appointment scheduled.
The cancelation affects the clinic that was supposed to open Feb. 15 and serve residents 65 and older who were JMH and non-Kaiser Permanente members. The clinic did administer vaccines on Feb. 15 to the 109 residents who already had booked appointments for this week. But no additional appointments were scheduled because of the vaccine shortage.

The cancelation means many residents are once again forced to comb through alternate options for receiving a vaccine. To help residents with this task, we take a closer look at the clinics currently available in California and who is eligible to receive a vaccine at each one.
Kaiser Permanente in Rossmoor
Kaiser Permanente held its vaccination clinic for Rossmoor residents who are 75 years and older and Kaiser members on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Hillside.
Kaiser Permanente members who are 75 and older and live in Rossmoor were invited to fill out an appointment request online. Appointments for the second dose were booked at the first-dose appointments.
Residents who were not eligible for this clinic or missed the clinic should continue to check their eligibility on kp.org or look for a letter from Kaiser Permanente.
John Muir Health
JMH has begun offering appointments to residents 65 and older, and as vaccines become available, the healthcare provider said it will contact patients who are eligible to schedule appointments. JMH also is reserving a portion of appointments for patients in this age group who live in parts of the community that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
Patients who are eligible will be contacted directly through MyChart, email, text message or phone call, depending on the contact information provided in their medical record. JMH members are asked not to call their doctor's office about appointments.

Residents can sign up to request an appointment online at https://tinyurl.com/3y9x6m67. For those without internet access, a call center is available at 833-829-2626.

Appointments are offered through Walgreen's website. Link: https://tinyurl.com/2umnsv7n
Individuals will need to sign up for a Walgreens.com pharmacy account, if they don't already have one. Then they will fill out a short screening, and if eligible, they will choose a location and time for a vaccination appointment. Appointments for both doses should be made at the same time.
As with other distributors, vaccines are limited based on supply. Individuals are asked to check back often to see if new appointment times have opened up.
My Turn in California
The state has set up a website to help residents determine if they are eligible for a vaccine. Link: http://myturn.ca.gov
Users click fields based on their age and professions to learn if they are eligible for a current phase. The website also indicates whether individuals are eligible for a future phase.
The webpage also lets users register to receive COVID-19 vaccine information based on eligibility criteria such as age, underlying health conditions, work industry and living situation.
Registrants will be asked to provide a mobile phone number for verification purposes. Those without a mobile phone should call the state's COVID-19 hotline at 833-422-4255 for assistance.
After individuals 65 to 74 years old, the next distribution group in California is Phase 1B Tier 2 with frontline essential workers, including teachers, and those in congregate settings at risk for an outbreak.
People ages 50 to 64, those with high-risk medical conditions and other essential workers will follow in Phase 1C.
As of last Friday, just over 5 million people in California had received a COVID-19 vaccine.
